After posting critical comments about the Employer’s business, damaging and derogatatory comments about management and owners such as the dealership was “slow”, the managers “greedy cocksucin low life scumbags”, and the shop “ripped off a bunch ppl” the Employer had no choice but to terminate employment.
While employees are entitled to an opinion about the people they work with, publicly displaying those opinions may justify disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. While employees are entitled to talk to each other about conditions at work the proverbial line is crossed where the discussion denigrates to insubordinate comments against a supervisor, derogatory postings damaging the employers’ business, threats of violence, or libellous or slanderous discussions.
